Why REACH compliance matters
Non-compliance with REACH can result in:
- Blocked EU market access
- Product recalls and supply chain disruption
- Regulatory penalties
- Reputational damage
We help brands, manufacturers, and retailers proactively manage regulatory risks through structured assessment, laboratory testing, and expert guidance.
Navigating REACH Compliance: Your Role Matters
Your obligations under REACH depend entirely on your position in the supply chain. Many companies find they hold multiple roles simultaneously.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Manufacturers & Importers: Companies producing chemicals within the EU or bringing them in from outside. These actors carry the primary responsibility for the substances they introduce to the market.
- Downstream Users: Industrial or professional users who utilize substances (alone or in mixtures) but do not manufacture or import them.
- Distributors: Includes retailers who store and market substances for third parties.
- Article Producers: Companies that manufacture or assemble finished goods. These entities must evaluate specific requirements for registration, communication, and notification regarding substances within those articles.
REACH compliance for articles
To stay compliant, you must monitor three critical lists and two specific volume thresholds.
- Restricted Substances (Annex XVII)
- The Rule: Use is strictly limited or banned.
- Action: Ensure your product meets specific concentration limits before placing it on the market.
- Substances of Very High Concern (Candidate List / SVHC)
If a substance on this list exceeds 0.1% weight by weight (w/w) in your article:
- Inform: You must provide safe-use instructions to customers.
- SCIP Notification: Mandatory entry into the ECHA waste database.
- ECHA Notification: Required if the total volume exceeds 1 tonne per year.
- Authorisation List (Annex XIV)
- The "Sunset Date": After this deadline, the substance is banned unless you have a specific, granted authorization.
- Registration of Substances
Required only if a substance is intended to be released (e.g., a scented product) and exceeds 1 tonne per year.
SVHC testing and chemical assessment services
We offer a streamlined, two-step approach to ensure your products meet all EU chemical regulations while minimizing unnecessary testing costs.
- Smart Chemical Assessment
Instead of testing everything, we start with a data-driven risk profile:
- Data Review: We analyze your Bill of Materials (BOM) and supplier info.
- Gap Identification: We pinpoint where data is missing or unreliable.
- Risk Mapping: We identify which materials are most likely to contain hazardous substances (SVHCs).
- Targeted Lab Testing
Our ISO 17025 accredited labs provide the final verification needed for market access:
- Cost-Efficiency: We only test for the high-risk substances identified in Step 1.
- Precision: We confirm if substances are below the 0.1% w/w threshold.
- Tech-Driven: We use advanced spectroscopy (ICP-MS) and chromatography (GC/MS) to guarantee reproducible results.
Our Advantage
- Full Lifecycle Support: From raw materials to finished consumer goods.
- Material Specific: Custom protocols for plastics, textiles, glass, and metals.
- Regulatory Confidence: Clear data to support your SCIP notifications and Annex XVII compliance.
REACH & CLP services for substances & mixtures
Ensure your chemical substances and mixtures meet strict EU safety standards. We provide a full suite of services to keep your Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and product labels fully compliant with REACH and CLP regulations.
Safety Data Sheet (SDS) Management
Manufacturers and importers are legally required to provide accurate safety data to users. We handle the technical details for you:
- SDS Creation: Development of compliant Safety Data Sheets from scratch.
- Review & Updates: We audit your existing SDS to ensure they align with the latest EU regulatory changes.
- Translation Services: Localization into multiple languages to support your global market reach.
CLP Label Compliance
Incorrect labeling is a major cause of market delays. Our experts verify your product labels against CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008:
- Hazard Elements: We confirm the correct use of pictograms, signal words, and hazard/precautionary statements.
- Sector Specific: Specialized checks for specific products, such as those under the Detergents Regulation.
