Developed more than two decades ago, Eurofins Assurance’s IP (Identity Preserved) TRUST certification programme has been on the forefront of safeguarding non-GMO (genetically modified organism) food and feed commitments for international and domestic suppliers and buyers. It is a robust non-GMO certification system that combines the advanced analytical capabilities from Eurofins testing network with our expertise in auditing and certification.
Applicable to food, feed and pet food, the IP TRUST programme provides a framework that enables organisations of all types and sizes to guarantee the integrity of supply chains.
Currently at Version 6, IP TRUST programme is based on EU regulations and is also applicable to other destination markets where legislation is different to but less stringent than EU regulations. This version was updated in collaboration with Eurofins’ famous GMO testing laboratory Eurofins GeneScan in Germany to reflect latest industry expectations, test methods and regulatory requirements, as well as to streamline some quality management requirements.
Two IP TRUST non-GMO certification programmes are available to suit different requirements. Businesses can decide which one to leverage. Specific audit checklists have been designed for each actor in the supply chain: farmers, manufacturers, brokers, storage and transport providers.
This programme is applicable to certification of one single site. Suppliers can adopt this to demonstrate non-GMO compliance proactively to buyers and take the programme as a tool for continuous improvement.
This programme covers the entire supply chain and ensure each step in the seed-to-goods production is free from GMO. With this comprehensive coverage, upstream food and feed companies can have maximised confidence that the final products are non-GMO.
By fulfilling IP TRUST requirements, businesses can showcase their achievements along their supply chain communications by displaying the relevant IP TRUST Seals.
Similar to other certification standards, IP TRUST certification begins by raising the request to any Eurofins Assurance team. Our team will reach out to understand the scale, species and other details of the non-GMO products manufacturing situation and provide quotations.
After receiving the completed application form clients, our team will arrange on-site audit scheduling. Generally, the on-site audit will take one day. This is followed by audit reporting and corrective action management. Upon successful completion, clients will receive the IP TRUST certificate in 35 days. The whole certification process, guided seamlessly by our teams, could take several months from start to finish.
The Compliant Traceability Statement is an add-on service to give extra boost on non-GMO products assurance. By running document review, Eurofins team can assess if one specific batch of raw materials or products falls within the scope of the customer’s IP TRUST certification. Customers can take the Compliant Traceability Statement, issued further by Eurofins team on that batch, to highlight the integrity to buyers.
