Regulatory Update – Safeners and Synergists

Applicants should be aware that, as of last year, new legislation applies to safeners and synergists (as of 19 June 2024 (Commission Regulation (EU) 2024/1487)), whereby a potentially substantial dataset may be required to meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1107/2009.

A list of safeners and synergists contained in plant protection products authorised for placing on the market in Member States (on the date of entry into force of Commission Regulation (EU) No 2024/1487) has been available since 19 March 2025.

Any interested party wishing to submit an application, in accordance with Article 7 of Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009, for the approval of a safener or synergist included in the list, may submit a request for inclusion of that safener or synergist in the work programme for gradual review by 19 June 2025.
