P-buffering
Definition
P-buffering is the soil’s capacity to maintain the Phosphorus (P) available to the plant from the phosphorus soil supply.
When phosphorus buffering is low, the stock of available phosphorus is not maintained during the growing season. A decline in P soil supply can also reduce P buffering capacity.
