Na-soil stock

Definition

Natrium (Na) or Sodium is an essential mineral in soil and can be measured by its Exchangeable Sodium Percentage (ESP) or Sodium Adsorption Ratio (SAR), which indicates its proportion relative to other cations.

Importance

Sodium is important for sugar beets and for grass (taste of grass for cattle feed), but high amounts of Na will negatively affect soil structure.
