Residue testing shows whether residues are present in water, soil, plant material, fruit or vegetables. These analyses are often required for statutory checks, certification audits and quality assurance.
What is Residue Testing?
Residue testing identifies active substances from crop protection products that may still be present in water, soil, crop material or harvested products. Eurofins Agro offers residue testing for water, soil and fresh produce. Separate analyses are available for organic cultivation in accordance with European regulations.
Why perform residue testing?
The quality and safety of water, soil and fresh produce depend on many factors. Residue testing provides insight into substances that may affect crop safety, consumer health or certification status.
For organic crops, the analysis shows whether fruit or vegetables comply with standards set by organisations such as SKAL.
How Residue Testing works
The sample is analysed to detect active substances from crop protection products. The analysis reports which substances are present and at which levels. Eurofins can test more than six hundred residue components and checks for exceedances of the EU Maximum Residue Level and the acute reference dose.
When to use Residue Testing
Residue testing is suitable for periodical statutory checks, monitoring programmes, certification audits and cases where exceedances are suspected. Analyses can be performed on water, soil, fruit, vegetables and other plant material.
Residue Testing parameters
Residue testing reports which crop protection substances are detected in the sample. The analysis indicates their levels and whether they exceed relevant limits such as the EU Maximum Residue Level and the acute reference dose.
