Early detection of plant pathogens—fungi, bacteria, viruses, and oomycetes—is crucial to prevent yield loss and financial damage.
Pathogen Detection
Presence of plant pathogens - including fungi and oomycetes, bacteria and viruses - can cause a large range of symptoms. This may result in significant yield losses, thus causing major financial damage. Early detection enables targeted action, preventing major yield loss and financial damage.
Plant doctor
The Plant Doctor service combines visual crop assessment with targeted analysis to identify issues and recommend action. Specific virus testing is available. For samples sent from outside the EU, strict import guidelines must be followed to avoid delays or destruction.
Identify the problem.
By identifying the cause of the problem, targeted action can be taken, and thus substantial economic damage can be avoided. Based on visual assessment of the submitted crop material combined with careful evaluation of any information provided, the Plant Doctor identifies the necessary analyses for subsequent diagnosis of the sample.
Alternatively, testing on specific viruses can also be requested.
The European authorities have set strict guidelines for the import of plant material into the European Union. Eurofins Agro can only receive plant samples sent from outside the European Union if these are sent
in compliance with these guidelines. If not, delays will occur, or the authorities will destroy the samples. Take the necessary steps to deliver the samples correctly.
Method
Eurofins Agro analyses samples according to prescribed and established methods. The analysis report briefly describes the method. Here you can also see which method has been accredited by the Accreditation Council. We then put a Q after the method.
