The test kits, including the forms for documented sample collection and the consent forms for all involved parties in accordance with the Genetic Diagnostics Act, can be ordered directly from Eurofins Forensics. Clear sample identification is always crucial, ensuring that the samples were indeed provided by the individuals in question.
For court-directed tests, we also recommend analyisng maternal samples in all cases.
Kinship relationships (relationsships by blood), even across several generations, can often be traced effectively using DNA tests.
A kinship test can identify uncles, aunts, cousins, and so on. These tests can be quite complicated, depending on who is available to provide a buccal swab, and may require prior planning for the best outcome.
A sibling test identifies full or half siblings. If a full sibling relationship is established (i.e., all siblings share the same mother and father), this test can also help determine the father.
In the case of twins, it is sometimes necessary to know whether they are identical or fraternal, Eurofins Forensics can perform these tests.
A maternity test may seem unnecessary at first glance. However, there are situations, such as a baby switch in the hospital or adoption, where such a test is desired to definitively establish the relationship between mother and child.
As a specialist laboratory for parentage tests, we regularly conduct DNA analyses to verify kinship before entry into Germany for submission to embassies and immigration authorities.
Before the entry of family members of persons with residence status in Germany, DNA tests can be carried out on fathers, children, mothers or even more distant relatives to prove the relationship.
