Our services cover the entire range of standards. We can support our customers in the following areas:
ATEX
Equipment and protective systems for installation in potentially explosive atmospheres (also referred to as hazardous locations) in the European Union must comply with the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU (which replaced the former ATEX Directive 94/9/EC).
Eurofins Electrical & Electronics can provide an extensive evaluation, testing, certification, and auditing services through our three EU Notified Bodies (0537, 0477 and 2776) for the ATEX Directive 2014/34/EU.
In addition, Eurofins E&E CML in the UK has a full scope and can undertake all testing required to assist manufacturers globally in achieving ATEX certification for their products.
IECEx
For global markets, Eurofins Electrical & Electronics can offer IECEx certification for products used in potentially explosive atmospheres.
The IECEx Ex product certification system is an internationally recognized conformity assessment program conducted by an independent third party. It provides manufacturers with a certification and test report package in accordance with internationally recognized IEC standards, which can be used to apply for/obtain approval in many regions around the world.
This avoids duplicate assessment and testing, ultimately saving time and costs in regional certification processes.
The IECEx scheme is based on similar principles and standards as those required by the ATEX directive and offers third-party conformity assessment based on internationally recognized IEC standards.

North American NRTL Certification
Eurofins Electrical & Electronics can provide customers with access to the North American (US & Canadian) markets with the MET NRTL mark.
Through a formal link between Eurofins E&E CML Ltd and Eurofins E&E North America (formerly MET Labs), customers can obtain the MET Mark Certification for products for use in Hazardous Locations in the US & Canada through their local Eurofins E&E location.
Japan
Manufacturers of Ex products who are looking to access the Japanese market can use the expertise of Eurofins E&E CML Ltd through their Eurofins Electrical & Electronics location and make use of this service.
Eurofins E&E CML Ltd was the first Certification Body outside of Japan to be registered, and issue, certification of equipment for use in explosive atmospheres in Japan. Eurofins E&E CML Ltd is registered directly with the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) and issues certification without the involvement of any other certification body.
China mining equipment certification
Manufacturers looking to place equipment onto the market in China and who need to meet the requirements for the Certification of Mining Equipment can take advantage of the agreement between Eurofins E&E CML Ltd and the government body for the Certification of mining equipment, the Mining Products Safety Approval and Certification Center (MA Center), in Beijing.
Eurofins E&E CML Limited is one of only two test laboratories in Europe who are recognised by MA Center and are permitted to conduct testing on their behalf, therefore removing the need to repeat testing of mining equipment bound for Chinese mines.
Other countries & regions
In addition to the services (ATEX, UKCA Ex/UKEx, IECEx, MET NETL) and the countries listed above, Eurofins Electrical & Electronics, through several agreements and partnerships for Certification can provide access to many other regions, including the TRCU (Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan) for TRCU Ex, Brazil (INMETRO approval), South Africa (MASC), China (Surface Industry with NEPSI/SITIIAS) and Taiwan (through IRTI)
